Overview

Security in Dreamtsoft consists of 3 main pieces: Bucket Access Controls, Functional Groups, Groups.

In the example above Bob Johnson is a Sales Manager that belongs to the Sales Management group. The Sales Management group is associated with 2 functional groups: Sales and Sales management. Each of these functional groups has Bucket access controls associated that will grant read, write, and/or delete access to the records and the individual slots on the records.

NOTE: Access can only be granted and not blocked using Dreamtsoft security. Meaning, if a user is granted access via one a Bucket Access Control you cannot block access with a separate bucket access control. You would need to remove the access and create separate security.

In order to navigate to the security menu the user must use the admin menu by clicking the admin gears and then the security menu.

  • Apply to - Specify the group this control applies to or if it applies to everyone authenticated.
  • Access to rows - Specify a condition that grants users access to view the individual record.
  • Access to slots - Choose which slots on a record the user can read or write.

Functional groups

Functional groups are the containers that bucket access controls reside. They are a function of a persons

Groups

Groups are a simple way to group people together in the system. Groups can be used to view Assignment Group queues, designate approvers, and inherit security rules from functional groups.
